Rivers Trust and many other organisations, including designated sites of special scientific interest (SSSI), use our services to support their vegetation management, whether planned, reactive or emergency in nature.
Our machines are especially suited to eco-sensitive areas because of their light footprint and one-man operation.
Our services in this area include:
Removing invasive growth of brambles and gorse
Cutting back heather for regeneration and fire breaks
Creating a varied habitat for the local grouse population
Clearing vegetation in woodland areas for a pheasant shoot
Our vegetation management work helps naturally occurring habitat to flourish, such as wildflowers, fescue, mosses. It also promotes ecology and biodiversity for wildlife, nesting birds and endangered species.
Natural England identifies and protects SSSIs in England under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 when it believes the land’s wildlife, geology or landform is of special interest. In Wales, SSSIs are managed by Natural Resources Wales.
Depending on the work that needs to be done, their consent may be required beforehand. In the case of an emergency, you can get the necessary emergency work done and inform Natural England as soon as possible afterwards.
Natural England will want to know the origin and chemical nature of materials that will be used. Our preference is to use organic materials wherever possible.
